Timeline of Notable Events
     
1961 -

 

 The Fantastic Four returned from their journey into space and changed the world forever.
1962 -

 

 The Incredible Hulk and the Amazing Spider-Man make their first appearances.
1963 -

 

 Anthony Stark founds Stark enterprises.  The original X-Men form.  The Invisible Girl marries Namor and leaves the Fantastic Four.  She is replaced by Spider-Man.
1964 -

 

 

 Captain America’s frozen body is found by the US government.  Captain America is revived and accepts membership in the United States first government super team called the Avengers.  Magneto forms the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants because of mutant hysteria around the world.
1965 -

 

 

 The X-Men discover the Savage Land.  Nick Fury becomes the head of S.H.I.E.L.D.  Stark Industries (the premier weapons manufacturer in the world) begins supplying S.H.I.E.L.D. with advanced technology.  Hydra makes its first appearance.
1966 -

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 The Silver Surfer leads Galactus to our solar system.  The Watcher uses his equipment in an attempt to hide the Earth from the Surfer.  The Surfer sees through the Watcher's illusions and discovers the Earth to be ripe with life energy.  The Watcher warns earth’s heroes about the danger.  The Fantastic Four, Avengers, X-Men and other heroes battle and kill the Surfer, but not before he signals his master.  The Watcher sends Johnny Storm to retrieve the Ultimate Nullifier from Galactus's world ship while Earth’s heroes battle Galactus.  Johnny returns the device, but dies from the wounds he received from the world ship’s defenses.  Reed Richards uses the device to force Galactus to leave the earth.  Earth’s heroes are victorious but in addition to death of the Human Torch, they also lose The Hulk, the original X-Men, and Dr. Strange in the vicious battle against Galactus.

The battle against Galactus kills several thousand people and causes millions of dollars of damage to New York.  This outcome turns public opinion against costumed vigilante’s and further spreads mutant hysteria across the country.  The U.S. convinces the world Galactus was a giant nazi robot  and not an alien from another world.
1967 -

 

 

 Frankie Ray discovers her mutant powers and joins the Fantastic Four as Nova, replacing the Human Torch.  Stark Industries works a deal with the US to reconstruct New York City. Tony Stark receives the Nobel peace prize for his humanitarian efforts around the world.
1970 -

 

 Professor Xavier recruits a new X-Men team.  The new members are Wolverine, Colossus, Storm, Banshee, Sunfire, Thunderbird, Nightcrawler, Mimic, and Betsy Braddock.
1973 -

 

 

 

 

 Thanos uses the Infinity Gems to destroy half of all life within the universe in an attempt to please Death.  Adam Warlock is resurrected and gathers an army of heroes to lead the retaliatory attack.  Thanos is attacked by Earth's surviving heroes, Adam Warlock, and a pantheon of cosmic entities.  After Thanos’s defeat a dying Adam Warlock uses the last of his life energy to restore the universe.  Adam dies during the process and the galaxy is restored to an altered state.  Many galactic civilizations, cosmic beings and, heroes don’t reappear.  The Kree, Skrull, Badoon, and Shiar empires are gone forever.  Captain Marvel, Adam Warlock, Wasp, Starfox, MoonDragon, Mantis, Swordsman, and Hercules die.
1974 -

 

 

 Earth's pollutants begin to infect Attillan, Atlantis, and the Savage Land.  With the help of the High Evolutionary, the Eternals, and the Fantastic Four, all three locations are moved to the blue area of the moon.  After moving these locations, the High Evolutionary, the Eternals, and the Fantastic Four also relocate to the moon.
1974 -

 

 

 

Due to their waning followers, the pantheons of Earth gather their remaining power and shut themselves off from the Earth forever.

The African nation of Wakanda conquers most of central Africa in a blitzkrieg campaign.  Black panther becomes the prime minister of the Africa coalition.
1988 -

 

 

 

 Professor Xavier and Magneto found the mutant kingdom of Genosha - a place for the world’s persecuted mutants to live peacefully.

Learning that S.H.I.E.L.D. has become corrupt, Nick Fury abandons the organization and helps to destroy it.  He then aids in the reconstruction of a new organization called the GUARD.
1989 -

 

 

 

 

A dying Dr. Doom sends invitations to many villains around the world to gather at his castle so he can auction off his technology.  Hydra, A.I.M, Red Skull, the Masters of Evil, the Thinker, Kang, and many other well known villains / organizations come to Latveria for the auction. Unknown to everyone this was a trap laid out by the United Nations.  The castle and its inhabitants were destroyed with a low yield Atomic bomb.

All active and reserve Avengers are killed destroying Ultron and his fortress island as he tries to poison all of the Earth’s water. 
1991 -

 

 China separates into several factions as a failed takeover attempt by the Yellow Claw destroys Beijing and much of the countries economy.
1995 -

 

 

 Tony Stark unveils Stark Island, a research/military complex that will also serve as a base for The Guard’s helicarriers. 

The world’s first permanent orbital station, Alpha Station, is constructed.
2000 -

 

The number of super heroes and villains start to rise.  The U.S. introduces a new Avengers team with all new members that work directly for the government.
